Almost all diamonds have some inclusions within the gem, which were left behind from the intense heat and pressure they endured over the millions of years when they were being formed from carbon, under the earth’s crust.  The size, number, and degree of these inclusions play a part in the overall value of a diamond.  The universal grading system created by GIA, consists of 11 grade levels defined by letters and numbers, as shown in the chart below.  Diamonds, which have been certified by a skilled grader as being above VS2, are considered “eye-clean”, meaning it is not possible to see the inclusions without the aid of magnification.  These are considered the most desirable diamonds.

Corrine will teach you how to examine diamonds under magnification and  help you identify the inclusions.  After your diamond exploration consultation, you will be able to choose your diamond with confidence and purchase the best value for your budget.
